RE: Valcourt Questions Please on #180

OvalsareFast: You misunderstood what I said as did some others no doubt. Words mean different things to different people, on that I'm sure we can all agree. Then people seize want they want and discard the rest. Read in context, my comment that named you was meant as a reference to the person who asked the question about Dolezal and seemed to be unhappy about the situation. Nothing more than that. I didn't read your question as anything beyond that. You asked it and you were answered. If all questions on this site could be answered as civilly as yours was, it would be great. So don't read anything else into it. It was a question that should have been asked. It was someone other than myself who decided that your tone was one of disgust with the decision of the SCM to DQ Nick. My point was simply this and it seems you agree: When rules can reasonably be construed more than one way, any choice amongst the various options is not clearly erroneous. And then given notice of this ambiguity in the rules, the makers should clarify them at the soonest available opportunity to do so. As George Samson would say: "thats it thats all" Glad you are a big oval fan. Keep it up and don't let Nicks DQ sway your faith away from the sport. All in all everyone is fair and sometimes these things happen. Have a good one AM

RE: Valcourt Questions Please on #180

Brian: The question that OvalsareFast posted at the very beginning was asked and answered long before you made your post. And OvalsareFast does not amount to what you refer to as "alot of people." And the fact of the matter is not absolutely that rules are rules. Rules are subject to reasonable interpretation. Interpretation is subject to rules of construction. An example of a rule of construction is that the more specific rule supercedes the more general rule when both concern the same subject matter. Another is that the more broad of a scheme of regulation the more likely it was intended to entirely occupy the field, thus preempting other laws that regulate the same subject matter. So, to answer your question I'll start with the former example of a rule of construction. In this case the (I'm paraphrasing) "no Ti unless specifically authorized" is more specific than the "anything may be replaced, modified, or removed." According to this Nick gets DQ'd Now trying out the latter method. When entire front and rear suspensions may be replaced, modified, or removed, this could easily be seen as an elaborate scheme regulating the entire suspension related field of the pro-stock classes. The legislative intent behind the rule might very well be just what Korinek said it was--to allow the un-ovalable snow cross factory sleds to be turned into oval machines by use of custom made suspensions by various speed-shops throughout the land. Then taking that scheme and its intent, it could easily be interpreted that the more elaborate scheme was intended to preempt any other (including the no Ti) rules regarding the suspensions in the pro-stock classes. Both interpretations are entirely reasonable. And as I can see from reading the posts posted prior to mine--if this were to come to a vote between the 4 circuits as if they were sitting on a panel and had to judge the #180 sled, they would be split and no ruling would be announced. Rules are Rules only to the extent of their interpretation. Some are hard and fast while others are less so. Careful drafting of the rules cannot even eliminate all of the potential ambiguities because people just don't think alike all of the time. So I'll say it again. OvalsareFast posted his question, it was answered and then 10 or so replies later you reply and suddenly he turns into "alot" of people. Stay off of this site if you are going to try to lump all of the very respectable people who were having a very intelligent and respectable conversation into the same group as OvalsareFast. At the very least, if you didn't mean to do what I've just described, try harder to write out your thoughts more clearly so your words are not "misinterpreted." Andy

RE: Valcourt Questions Please on #180

Q.) Is a ski-doo primary spring (Grn./Wht.) a gain or NO gain for a ski-doo Wht./Wht. spring? Seems to me there is a difference. It's sad that alot of people think a "stiffy" was giving here but in true technicality "THE RULE BOOK WAS FOLLOWED" properly. Done deal Brian

RE: Valcourt Questions Please on #180

Brian: You may consider reading the substance of the posts posted prior to your post and then check again to see if your post makes any sense. I see nothing that should make you "sad." I don't feel "sad" after reading any of it. Reasonable interpretations of the same rules are just that. They are reasonable. Nobody said otherwise and for you to come on here and try to turn this into something that it is not, is sad. Andy

RE: Eagle River Video now on!!

Click Here to Find and Download To view the movies on the WSA site you need to have Adobe Shockwave Flash player installed on your computer. Just click the link above and download and install the version appropriate for your system. I have viewed the video on Safari for Mac, FireFox, and Internet Explorer for WIndows. Good Job on production. No doubt this is an awesome thing that will bring great exposure for our sport. Thanks WSA! AM

RE: Forest Lake oval results ?

Hi SpyGuy: I am fairly certain that I won't be able to upload a video before I head out of Dodge. But I can be sure that I can put it on the web Monday morning after I am back home assuming I get decent footage. Damn these races are a good time! AM

RE: Where was #66 this weekend?

Technically now--Moyle was at Plymouth: --Gary's oldest (5yr) boy Dayton was at the race this weekend for his first big one. Heard he got a 4th. We all wish we could have been there but like I said up top, it just wasn't going to happen. Atleast we had some representation there though right?...

RE: Where was #66 this weekend?

A few of us up here have had SARS or the Bird Flu or the Plague or something like it since last Monday and it hasn’t let up yet, including today. So because of that things went undone in the shop and we didn't feel like traveling. Driving to the raceshop itself was hard enough to do without stopping along the way if you know what I mean. Not a good deal at all. We hate to miss races, and absolutely hate to miss races right before ER. But oh well. We’ll be at Eagle regardless of course. AM

RE: Ironwood Track

Hi There: Just rolled through Ironwood a couple of hours ago and the track looks great. They have plenty of ice and the forecast is very good for more being made, even this week. They had a semi-tanker truck misting the track and people were actually ice skating on it with ice skates of all things. Apparently these people haven't discovered ice oval sleds yet. Well atleast they are getting close with the 2 blades right ?... Have a good one AM

RE: BJ predictions??

I guess I'd have to say that Gary's new iron is pretty sick looking too considering they are only 60% complete as of yesterday. But hey, there are 24 hours in a day right! Here are a few more pictures. No one asked me not to post them... Moyle Racing website
